“Like A Flower To The Sun", is a celebration of life, the earth’s bounty, and is a symbol for the growing child. It is an exploration of the earth’s life cycles, life forms, and rhythms of different cultures.
From an imaginary walk around the world, to the wind rustling through trees, the listener embarks on a musical journey. The song lyrics paint visual pictures, and the instrumentals are rich in atmosphere. From the dry, sandy desert that we cross on the back of a camel, to a fruitful garden; to the rocky landscape of Northern Ontario, to the deep ocean waters, home of dolphins and whales, the pieces echo the earth’s nuances, its sounds and glories.
The resonance of human life is inherent in this collection of songs, from the vantage of our beautiful planet from outer space in "Big Blue Ball", to the daily patterns and movements of people engaged in the rhythms of work and play.
Children respond to music and rhythm naturally, and individually, developing body awareness and co-ordination, balance and spatial relationships, while fine-tuning listening, concentration and language skills. These new songs and instrumental compositions were conceived and arranged, above all, to stimulate the imagination of the young child, and to explore self-expression by encouraging creative movement.
